Yorkshire remain top of Group A with 16 points, but took their first home defeat on June 7 as Leicestershire Foxes beat them by 12 runs — “Rehan brings Yorkshire back to earth.” Nottinghamshire climbed level with Leicestershire on 12 points after beating Derbyshire. Three teams are now tied on 12 pts (Notts, Leics) and two on 8 pts (Durham, Derbyshire). Lancashire — who signed Jos Buttler on a new deal — have a game in hand with three matches played. Durham host Lancashire on June 9 in a crucial North Group clash.

Gloucestershire are now clear leaders of the Central group with 5 wins from 6 matches (20 pts), their latest a tight 3-run win over Worcestershire on June 7. Northamptonshire stay second on 16 pts but have played two fewer games — they take on Worcestershire on June 9. Defending champions Somerset suffered their fifth defeat in seven matches — Warwickshire chased 216 in 19.4 overs in a stunning high-scoring win at Taunton. Warwickshire’s Dan Webster hit a maiden T20 ton to inspire the chase. Somerset’s title defence is in serious danger. Glamorgan, Somerset, Warwickshire and Worcestershire are all clustered on 8 pts in mid-table.

Hampshire Hawks are on fire — six wins from six, a perfect record and 24 points. They beat Sussex by 29 runs on June 7 to stay flawless. Surrey (12 pts) and Essex (12 pts) are level in second, with Essex climbing after a 60-run demolition of Middlesex. Essex’s NRR (+0.921) is now the second best in the group. Kent (12 pts) also sit on 12 but with fewer games played, keeping the race for second and third extremely tight. Middlesex are in deep trouble — 1 win from 7 matches, a negative NRR of -1.894, and almost certainly needing a miracle run to avoid bottom finish. Essex vs Kent on June 9 is the key clash to watch.

Women’s Finals Day: The four semi-finalists will meet at the Kia Oval, London on 17 July 2026 — two semi-finals followed by the final, all in one day. Surrey enter as defending champions after winning the inaugural Women’s T20 Blast title in 2025. The competition has been expanded to four Finals Day teams in 2026, up from the 2025 format.

Women’s League Two 2026 — Early Standings

The Women’s T20 Blast League Two runs a separate nine-team competition, with Finals Day hosted at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 12 July 2026. Early leaders include Glamorgan Women (NRR +3.925), Middlesex Women, and Northamptonshire Women, all on 5 points after the opening rounds. Full League Two standings are updated on the ECB’s official website and the England Cricket app.

How the Vitality Blast Points System 2026 Works

4 Points — Win
0 Points — Loss
2 Points — Tie
2 Points — No Result
0 Conceded Match
48 Max Points (12 games)
ResultPoints AwardedNotes
Win4 pointsFull points to winning team
Loss0 pointsNo points for losing team
Tie (scores level after 20 overs each)2 points eachSuper Over may decide match but table gets 2 pts
No Result (abandoned/washed out)2 points eachBoth teams receive 2 points
Conceding a match0 — opponent gets 4Failure to fulfil fixture

The vitality blast points system 2026 has been updated compared to earlier seasons. Teams now receive 4 points for a win (not 2 as in some past editions), with 2 points for ties and no results. This change gives greater separation on the table and reduces the number of ties at the top. With 12 group matches per county in 2026, the maximum achievable points total is 48 — though in practice, anything above 30–32 points should be enough to secure automatic qualification.

One often-misunderstood rule: when a match is tied, both teams receive 2 points regardless of whether a Super Over is used to determine a winner for statistical purposes. The table points always reflect the tied result.

Net Run Rate in the T20 Blast Points Table — Explained

Net Run Rate (NRR) is the final column on every t20 points table 2026. It separates teams that finish the group stage on equal points. A positive NRR means a team scores faster than it concedes — teams sitting at +0.500 or higher are generally in strong qualification shape.

Worked Example

County scores: 165 (20 ov) + 145 (20 ov) = 310 runs in 40 overs → 7.75 per over

County concedes: 150 (20 ov) + 140 (20 ov) = 290 runs in 40 overs → 7.25 per over

NRR = 7.75 − 7.25 = +0.50 — a solid qualifying position

Critical rule: When a team is bowled out before 20 overs, the full 20 overs are counted in the NRR denominator — not just the overs they faced. This penalises teams that collapse cheaply and significantly rewards teams that bowl opponents out rather than just defending totals.

  • Wild card spots go to the two best third-placed teams across all three groups — points first, NRR second, head-to-head third
  • With 12 games per county (fewer than previous editions), a slow start of 3+ early losses could be enough to end qualification hopes

T20 Blast Format 2026 — The Three-Group Change

The most significant change to the T20 Blast format 2026 is the return to three groups of six teams, replacing the two-group-of-nine structure used in recent seasons. Each county plays 12 group-stage matches: 10 within their group (home and away against each opponent) plus two crossover fixtures against teams from outside their group. This creates new rivalries and adds unpredictability to the standings.

Format 2026 vs Previous Editions

The shift to three groups means the t20 blast points table for each group is cleaner and easier to follow — six teams, twelve matches, a clear top two. However, it also means a team that loses its opening three fixtures is already in serious qualification danger with no room for recovery. The new format rewards consistent early-season form far more harshly than before.

Teams Most Likely to Top the T20 Blast 2026 Points Table

Group A · North
Yorkshire
Group Leaders

Still top of Group A with 16 pts despite losing to Leicestershire on June 7 — their first defeat. Moeen Ali has said people advised him against joining Yorkshire, but he is already making an impact. Their NRR advantage over the chasing pack is still substantial. Next up: Derbyshire on June 9 at home.

Group B · Central
Gloucestershire
2024 Champions · Group Leaders

The 2024 title holders have taken charge of Group B — five wins from six matches and sole leaders on 20 points. Duan Jansen’s 4-wicket burst secured a dramatic 3-run win over Worcestershire on June 7. With Northamptonshire below them on games played, Gloucestershire are the form team of the competition.

Group C · South
Hampshire Hawks
Perfect 6/6 · Title Favourites

The best record in the tournament — six wins from six, 24 points, and a dominant NRR of +1.452. Runners-up in 2025, Hampshire look unstoppable this season. James Vince’s leadership and a balanced attack make them the clear overall tournament favourites as of June 8.

Group B · Central
Northamptonshire Steelbacks
Unbeaten · 4 from 4

Still unbeaten in four matches with the competition’s best NRR (+1.848). They face Worcestershire at home on June 9 — a win would put them back level with Gloucestershire. Their aggressive batting and smart bowling has been the season’s biggest surprise package.

Group C · South
Essex Eagles
Rising Fast

A 60-run demolition of Middlesex on June 7 has lifted Essex to 12 points and third in the South Group. Their NRR of +0.921 is now second only to Hampshire in the group. Essex vs Kent on June 9 could decide who holds the crucial second automatic spot coming into the back half of the season.

Group B · Central
Somerset
Defending — In Crisis

Five defeats in seven matches now confirmed for the defending champions — Warwickshire chased down their 215 with Webster’s maiden T20 century leading the way. Somerset are clinging to a wild-card spot on NRR but their qualification is genuinely in danger. The next four fixtures will define their season.

  • How does the T20 Blast 2026 points table work?
The T20 Blast 2026 points table awards 4 points for a win, 2 points for a tie or no result, and 0 for a loss. Teams are ranked first by total points, then by Net Run Rate if tied on points. The three-group format means each county plays 12 group matches — fewer than in previous editions, making every result especially important.

The top two teams from each of the three groups qualify automatically for the quarter-finals.
